Streamlining digital content delivery
At Emmaus College in Rockhampton, managing digital resources used to be a complex task. With multiple publishers, differing licensing models, and manual access code management, staff were juggling a fragmented system. Even after partnering with an alternative eBooks supplier, every student class change still required manual intervention, from reassigning licences to contacting publishers. It was a time-consuming process that placed unnecessary strain on teachers and library staff.
Looking for a simpler, more scalable solution, the school transitioned to ReadCloud’s unified platform.
Today, all students at Emmaus College receive instant access to their required digital textbooks the moment they’re enrolled in a class. No more access codes. No more manual tracking. Just the right content, delivered automatically.
This shift has had a meaningful impact on the day-to-day experience of teaching and learning. Teachers no longer spend valuable time troubleshooting access issues or distributing resources. Instead, they can focus on lesson delivery and student engagement. For students, the ability to instantly access their books from any location means they’re better equipped to take control of their learning, whether at school or at home.
Library Manager Peta Wing has seen the benefits first-hand:
“ReadCloud is useful as it means that students don’t need to lug around heavy textbooks. They are able to access their textbook from wherever they have their laptop, which is great if they are at home and their textbook is at school.”
“My science students have been able to access the textbook to read further about topics covered in the lesson, as well as completing the assigned questions and digital test. It has made organising lessons easier and given students easy access to complete work appropriate to the lesson.”
“I find that it saves class time, as students aren’t asking to go to their lockers to get books — they can just access them online.”
“I could set work from the textbook to cover a lesson if I was unwell at home without needing to have a physical copy.”
“Students are able to take charge of their learning by completing the assigned chapter and extending themselves by reading ahead and completing the prescribed chapter questions.”
With more than 1,650 users, the transition to ReadCloud has significantly reduced the administrative load across teaching and library staff. It’s a more efficient, cost-effective approach that enables both staff and students to get more out of every lesson.
